Detroit Malayalee Association continued its tradition of giving in 2022, extending support to deserving individuals and families both in Michigan and in Kerala. Below is a summary of key charitable activities carried out during the year.
DMA helped Syam Sasi from Vaduthala, Kochi, who has been suffering from liver disease for the last 10 years, developed after the onset of hepatitis A infection together with dengue fever. Doctors had advised an immediate liver transplant, and DMA stepped in with financial support.
DMA handed over a check of $500 to Serine Jeniliya, a 6th standard student from Udumalapet with a hearing disability, to support her educational needs.
A check was handed over by Shri Raju Pillai for the ambulance vehicle booked by Viswa Jyothi Charitable Society. Society President Sanu Mambara, Vice President Arun Anirudhan, and society member Haridas received the check and expressed their gratitude.
DMA helped Shri Surendran and their family in Arpookkara Panchayat, Kottayam, whose three children are mentally handicapped. Shri Antony Manalel handed over a check of $1,350 to Shri Surendran and their family.
