DMA had initiated several captivating events throughout the year for Malayalees in and around Detroit Metro area. We always have a motto to promote and entertain kids to bring them culturally and traditionally educated. In keeping with our commitment to show case good Malayalam programs from Kerala, for the benefit and enjoyment of the Malayalees in the Metro Detroit area, we support several performing artists from Kerala and try to conduct shows which include celebrities, singers, dancers and other stage performers. Some of the other highlighted yearly events include

DMA Picnic: Summer picnic is conducted yearly with tremendous enthusiasm including our members and family, friends and relatives. Fun, Food and Games are the highlights of this event. DMA sponsor prizes for all the winners for the several sport activities that is conducted on that day. Please don’t forget to check our calendar for this year’s picnic!

DMA Onam: Any Malayalee cannot forget the memories of Onam, the very own festival of Kerala. King Maveli will never forget to visit DMA and their members yearly. We celebrate our festival traditionally with style and fashion. Pookkalam competition, Thiruvathirakali, Vallamkali, Chendamelam are few of the cultural events that take place during that event. We depict Onam in all ways a “Malayalee” can think of - Mouth watering ‘Onam Sadhya’, Traditionally dressed male and female, Collecting flowers from houses to make ‘Pookkalam” and much much more! Come and join our fun filled day of events for this year Onam! Kids Fancy Dress is the Highlighted competition for this event.

DMA Keralotsavam: In celebrations to the birth of Kerala (“Kerala Piravi”), DMA introduced a yearly event called as “Keralotsavam”. The idea behind this event is not only to celebrate Kerala Piravi, but also to encourage youth to be involved in all the traditional Kerala cultural events and there by promote value and heritage to the community. ‘Malayali Manka’, a competition which is conducted for married females, will be selected for this event.

DMA Annual Party: Annual party is conducted every year along with Xmas and New Year. There is general body meeting on the same day of the event. Several competition and prizes will be awarded during the event. Highlighted competition for this event is “Best Couple” – The best couple of DMA will be selected on this day.

India Day Parade: DMA takes part every year for the India Day parade conducted by the Indian associations of metro Detroit along with the Independence Day of India.

Indoor Games: We promote and entertain indoor games and sponsor prizes for Chess tournament, 56 Card game, Rummy Card game and 28 card game.
